For the longest time, when someone asked me why I do what I do – why I educate myself and others about environmental toxins and how to detox their homes, I said my truth: that becoming a mom opened my eyes up to the hidden dangers and toxins that are in our personal care products. And that truth is still relevant today. You don’t know what you don’t know and for the longest time, I mistakenly thought I knew what healthy living entailed – primarily food and fitness choices.
However, there’s a deeper truth – a deeper reason for why this is so important to me – why I’m so passionate about helping women protect themselves and their families by controlling the controllables in their lives.
You see I’ve realized that, while my daughter is important to me and I would do anything to protect her and keep her safe, I unknowingly didn’t always have that option for myself.
I’ve been where you may have been or are right now – I’ve been depressed, suicidal, confused and misdiagnosed. In fact, I spent many years of my life going to dozens of traditional doctors, mental health professionals, functional medicine doctors, alternative health healers, spiritual counselors, etc because I knew my life was going down the drain. I wasn’t happy, I couldn’t focus, I was gaining weight inexplicably. I was always tired and worn down; I was diagnosed with everything from SAD to bipolar, tested for everything from lyme disease to thyroid issues to adrenal fatigue. I was put on medications, supplements, special diets, etc. Life was really, really hard. I cried a lot. I felt lonely and misunderstood. I was angry.
And I realized that despite all the testing, diagnoses and medications; despite all of the professionals from all different backgrounds and walks of life, not one (not one!!) professional mentioned, let alone explained or worked with me on, environmental toxins. Environmental toxins that can affect things like thyroid functionality, adrenal fatigue, and the ability to get pregnant – that can even mask themselves to look like lyme disease and can be at least partially responsible for many types of cancer and much, more more? Now, please don’t get me wrong – I respect each professional in their professionalism and ability to do their expertise to the best of their abilities. But if these professionals aren’t highlighting environmental toxins, who is? I felt the call to be the person to stand up and say, “I will.”
I will work and help people protect themselves and their families from this missing link of healthy living. I will share my story, filled with heartache and pain. I will share the successes of not only prevention but also healing that can happen when environmental toxins are addressed. It’s never too late to make different choices. It’s never too late to choose a different path.
I will learn so I can teach. I will educate so I can help protect. I will share my experience so you can learn from it. I will support you so you don’t feel lost, confused, alone. I will uncover truths so you can protect and prevent toxins to take over your life. I will research and review products so I can make recommendations that allow you to sleep soundly at night.
You deserve that opportunity and I’m here to serve.
